Revenge vs. Vengeance

Ich habe ja letztens meinen Homie Jane gefragt, was der Unterschied in der Benutzung von “revenge” und “vengeance” ist. Hier ihre Antwort:

I’ve always thought of vengeance as being more active than revenge. Hmmm .. hard to explain … if someone said ‘I’m going to get my revenge” then that’s a sort of passive thought, but if you were to say “I will come down upon you with great vengeance” then it seems like a much more active (aggressive?) thought. When I hear the word vengeance I am always reminded of Pulp Fiction (one of my favourite movies) and Jules’ speech before he guns someone down! Somehow there is more of a biblical sense to the word, perhaps an implication of evil!
